Release 17 introduces a comprehensive Applicable Laws framework across the DPMS, along with significant enhancements to ROPA, Tags, Assessment Templates, and several usability improvements throughout the platform.

Overview

Release 17 is a major update that brings a new Applicable Laws / Regulations feature, enabling you to assign country-specific data-protection regulations directly to processing activities and related records. It also delivers meaningful improvements to Tags (now with multilingual support), the ROPA module, Assessment Templates, and general navigation — alongside a number of targeted bug fixes.

Applicable Laws & Regulations [NG-3118]

A new Applicable Laws section is now available in the compliance settings. You can configure country-specific data-protection regulations and assign them to records throughout the system. Applicable laws can be linked directly within ROPA processing activities (e.g. to legal basis, special categories, purpose of processing, and DPIA entries), giving you a clear view of which regulations govern each record.

Multilingual Tags [NG-3214 / NG-3290 / NG-3305]

Tags now support automatic translation and can be maintained in multiple languages. When a tag is created or edited, you can provide translations for each of the platform's supported languages. Tags are displayed in the user's active interface language wherever they appear — in dropdowns, tables, and detail views.

Retention & Deletion linked in ROPA [NG-3118]

ROPA processing activities can now display and manage a dedicated Retention & Deletion linked section, allowing you to connect retention schedules directly to a processing activity record.

Create linked records directly from ROPA

Where a linked object does not yet exist, you can now create it on the fly from within a ROPA processing activity — including Vendors, Assets, Affected Persons, and Purpose of Processing entries — without leaving the ROPA screen.

Description field for TOMs [NG-3359]

Technical and Organisational Measures (TOMs) now include a dedicated Description field on both the edit and detail screens, giving you more space to document the measure in full.

Missing fields added to Tasks [NG-3396]

The Task creation and detail screens now include previously missing fields, ensuring all relevant task information can be captured and reviewed in one place.

Improvements

ROPA – Linked Assessments: The structure used to link assessments to a processing activity has been updated for greater consistency and reliability.

ROPA – External Recipients: A "Complies with" field has been added to external recipient records.

ROPA – Categories / Legal Basis: Records that have no associated regulation assigned no longer cause display errors.

TOM – Controls link: TOMs detail screens now include a direct link to associated controls in the Asset Register.

Tags – Detail screen: The tags detail and edit screens have been redesigned for clarity and now support the new multilingual structure.

Assessment Templates: The template editor has been restructured with improved section and question management, clearer settings panels, and better performance when working with large templates.

Legitimate Interest: The creation and edit flow has been streamlined; the "Create" button for legitimate interest assessments is now correctly enabled.

Navigation menu: The main menu now adjusts its height dynamically based on the selected interface language, preventing layout overflow.

Save bar: The save/action bar is now sticky, remaining visible as you scroll through long forms.

Dropdown defaults [NG-3360]: Several dropdowns across the platform now pre-select a sensible default value on creation.

Button animations [NG-3302]: Button hover and loading animations have been standardised across all screens.

Policies & Documents: The label shown in the general table has been corrected [NG-3354], and the creation flow has been updated.

Meetings & Activities: A label displayed incorrectly in this module has been corrected [NG-3403].

[NG-3369] A wrong link appearing in the side navigation menu has been corrected.

[NG-3370] The link from the Asset Register to TOMs was broken and has been restored.

[NG-3233] An issue causing the linked-objects list to display incorrectly in the Vendor section of ROPA has been resolved.

[NG-3417] Several additional fixes have been applied to the ROPA module to address display and data-loading issues.

[NG-3347] Translation verification pass completed; missing or incorrect interface strings have been corrected across all supported languages (EN, DE, ES, FR, PT).

[NG-3345] The main menu no longer overflows its container on smaller screens or when longer language labels are active.

[NG-3354] The "Policies" label in the general table was showing an incorrect value and has been fixed.

[NG-3403] The Meetings & Activities module was displaying a wrong label; this has been corrected.

[NG-3396] Fields that were missing from the Task screens have been added.

Drag-and-drop reordering in assessment template sections has been fixed.

An issue where linked documents in Data Collection Points were not loading correctly has been resolved.

Loading of template selectors on assessment creation screens has been fixed.
